About Us

~About the Breeder~

Melissa is an art teacher and has been raising cockatiels since

she was sixteen years old. The first baby bird she ever handfed is named

Meno and you can see her picture below. She was a day old baby cockatiel

that was rejected by her parents. Although cockatiels are her favorite she has

handfed and raised birds of all sizes.

The most breeding pairs we have set up at one time is four. This way

we can give the babies as much attention as possible. When the birds are set

up for breeding they lay two clutches and then they are given a break to rest.

While on break, the birds enjoy their free time in a flight cage together. They

eat a diet consisting mostly of roudy bush pellets and a sun seed cockatiel mix.

Our babies are pulled from the nest at two weeks old and hand fed.

They are housed in our living room in order to get used to everyday sounds

and visitors. They are allowed to learn to fly before getting their wings clipped.

Between learning to fly and being abundance weaned we hope to raise

confident and happy baby cockatiels.
